Soy-Glazed Chicken
Recipe Ingredients
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 teaspoon Five Spice Powder
1 4-5 pound whole roasting chicken
Combine soy sauce, onion, garlic, cooking oil, five spices powder, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Place chicken in plastic bag; set in a bowl. Pour soy sauce mixture over chicken; close bag. Refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours, turning chicken occasionally. Drain. Skewer neck skin to back. Tie legs securely to tail; twist wing tips under back. Place chicken, breast side up, on rack in a shallow roasting pan. Roast in 375° oven about 1 1/2 hours or until drumstick moves easily in socket. Makes 3 or 4 servings.
